ROUTE YOUR ENQUIRY

Four desks. One number that always answers.

Owners, clubs, underwriters and cargo interests each need something different from the first phone call. Pick the desk that matches your matter — the subject lines below put your instruction straight in front of the surveyor who handles that work.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The clock we work to.

A survey is only worth what it is worth on the day. Demurrage accrues, evidence degrades, and a berth window closes whether or not a surveyor has arrived. These are the timings our operations desk is measured against on every instruction, at every port in our own network.

01 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Under 60 minutes, day or night, including Indian public holidays.
02 WRITTEN QUOTATION Same working day for a defined scope — fixed fee or agreed rate, no open-ended billing.
03 SURVEYOR AT BERTH Same-day attendance across our own port network; next available slot elsewhere through vetted associates.
04 PRELIMINARY ADVICE Within 24 hours of attendance — enough to take a commercial decision on.
05 FULL REPORT Photographic evidence, findings and opinion, issued to ISO 9001:2015 controlled format.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR INSTRUCTION

Send as much of this as you have. Anything missing we will chase — but an instruction carrying all eight lines is normally quoted and allocated in a single exchange.

01 Vessel name, IMO number and flag
02 Port, terminal and berth — or anchorage position
03 ETA, laycan and the operation window
04 Cargo description, quantity and packing
05 Scope of survey and the standard it is held to
06 Who instructs, and on whose behalf we act
07 Local agent and the contact on board
08 Any deadline for preliminary advice

lock Details sent here are treated as commercially confidential and used only to respond to your enquiry. We run a conflict check before accepting any appointment, and we are happy to work under your own NDA or club instruction wording.

BEFORE YOU CALL

The questions we are asked first.

Most first-time instructions start with the same five questions. If yours is not here, the duty line answers around the clock — there is no gatekeeping and no ticket queue.

SPEAK TO THE DUTY DESK arrow_forward
How quickly can a surveyor attend? add
Across the ports covered directly by Gandhidham and Navi Mumbai — Kandla, Mundra, Tuna, JNPA, Mumbai, Hazira and Dahej among them — same-day attendance is the norm, and for a casualty the surveyor is usually moving before the written instruction arrives. Elsewhere on the Indian coastline we mobilise through associates who are vetted on the same standards, and we will give you a realistic ETA on the first call rather than an optimistic one.
Can you attend a port where you have no office? add
Yes. Our own offices anchor the west coast, and a vetted correspondent network extends the same reporting standard to the east coast, the Middle East, South East Asia and Europe. Every associate is re-vetted biennially against our report format and ISO 9001:2015 protocols, and the instruction stays with one Beacon file handler throughout — you are never handed off to a stranger in another time zone.
What does a survey cost? add
A defined scope gets a fixed fee; open-ended attendances such as loading supervision or a casualty are quoted on an agreed day or hourly rate with travel and disbursements stated up front. Either way the quotation is in writing before we sail, and we do not issue surprise variations — if the scope changes on site, you hear about it from the surveyor while there is still time to decide.
Will the report stand up in arbitration or court? add
Reports are written on the assumption that they will be tested. Findings are separated from opinion, every conclusion is traced to a photograph, a measurement or a document on file, and the chain of custody for samples and evidence is recorded. Our senior surveyors are master mariners and marine engineers who can support the report in a hearing where the appointment requires it.
How do you handle conflicts and confidentiality? add
We hold no ownership interest in any shipping, repair, trading or salvage business, so there is nothing to disclose beyond the instruction itself. A conflict check runs before an appointment is accepted, and where we already act for another interest in the same casualty we will tell you and decline. Files, photographs and samples are held confidentially, and we routinely sign client or club NDAs.

A vessel does not wait for office hours.

Thirty years, every major Indian port, and one duty number that has never gone to voicemail. Call it now, or send the instruction and we will call you.
